Arsenal fans attempted a cheeky tactic to disrupt Manchester City‘s preparations for their crucial match against Tottenham Hotspur, reported by GOAL. Under the cover of darkness, fireworks were set off outside the Delta Hotels Waltham Abbey, presumably to disturb the sleep of the City squad. However, their efforts were in vain as it later transpired that the City team was not lodging at that hotel.

What Kyle Walker said

After Manchester City emerged victorious over Tottenham with a 2-0 scoreline, thanks to Erling Haaland’s brace, Kyle Walker couldn’t resist poking fun at the failed antics of the Arsenal fans. With a mischievous grin, Walker mocked the pranksters, revealing that the fireworks missed their mark as the City squad was elsewhere. His playful response showcased the team’s resilience and ability to remain focused amidst distractions.

Walker said, “Last night I couldn’t sleep, I’m struggling to sleep. And then you’re getting to the hotel today, I’ve heard they have tried to set fireworks off the night before but we weren’t there, they’ve missed us! I’m scrambling to get half an hour in the afternoon just to get my head down.”

Reflecting on the win

Despite securing a crucial win against Tottenham, Manchester City’s triumph was not without its tense moments. A crucial save by goalkeeper Stefan Ortega prevented Tottenham’s Son Heung-min from equalizing, highlighting the fine margins in football. Walker commended Ortega’s performance, likening his reflexes to those of Bayern Munich legend Manuel Neuer. Reflecting on the match, Walker emphasized the importance of staying focused and not underestimating any opponent, especially with the title race hanging in the balance.

Walker added: “He [Ortega] has got that spread, like Manuel Neuer. I bet his heart was in his mouth. I was just thinking ‘No, not again’. For Son, we spent so much time together at Tottenham together. He’s the nicest man in football, so for him to do it to me I don’t think I could forgive him. The stars aligned for us and we’ve got a chance to go do it in the last game of the season.”

Looking ahead for Manchester City

With the Premier League title within reach, Manchester City are gearing up for their final showdown against West Ham United. Walker stressed the need for continued focus and determination, acknowledging that the job is far from done. Despite the tantalizing prospect of lifting the trophy in front of their home fans, Walker emphasized the importance of taking each game as it comes and not becoming complacent. The upcoming match against West Ham presents another opportunity for Manchester City to etch their names in the history books and secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title.

“It is one step closer, it’s still not job done,” he said. “At least we bring it down to the last day, in front of our fans, which should be important. You have to take every game as it comes. We had a job to do tonight – we’ve done that – but we know how things can swing in the balance of a game of football, like going 2-0 down against Aston Villa [on the final day in 2022] and thinking ‘what’s happened?’ We recover and three days until West Ham, which is another final, and hopefully we can go and make history for this great club. It is not a job done by a million miles.”

Kyle Walker’s witty response to Arsenal’s failed fireworks prank encapsulates Manchester City’s unwavering focus and determination as they edge closer to yet another Premier League title. With their sights set on victory in the final match against West Ham United, City remain vigilant and resolute in their pursuit of success. As the tension mounts and the stakes escalate, Walker’s playful banter serves as a reminder of the team’s resilience and ability to overcome challenges on their path to glory.
