Utah Jazz GM Receives Critical Health Update After Kidney Transplant Operation
Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

While the Utah Jazz haven’t lived up to expectations this season, one of its officials has been dealing with a huge battle off the court. But after going through a crucial procedure, general manager Justin Zanik may be out of the woods for the foreseeable future.

Just recently, the Jazz came out with a statement about Zanik’s health status and how he has been battling a polycystic kidney disease for quite some time now. Due to his health issue, the general manager has stepped away from his duties to undergo a kidney transplant.

Along with Utah’s front office, Zanik’s family has also release a statement regarding Justin’s health and the challenges that come along with it. They expressed their gratitude for everyone who supported the Jazz’ general manager, especially in this time of hardship.

The Jazz, on the other hand, aren’t doing so well during the course of the regular season. Instead of improving from their record last year, the team has become mediocre by staying out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference. At this point in time, the franchise has only won 29 games while sustaining 47 losses.

Utah Jazz Releases Critical Update On General Manager Justin Zanik’s Health

After going through a kidney transplant, the Utah Jazz’s front office has released an update on Zanik. According to the team’s official account on X:

The typical recovery period from a kidney transplant is around six to eight weeks. During that time, Zanik is not advised to perform activities that may hinder the recovery process, like driving or lifting heavy objects. Furthermore, only light work activities may be done after that recommended six to eight week period.

Fortunately, the Jazz aren’t expected to make the playoffs this year, making Zanik’s work much lighter. Hopefully, he can recover in time to help Utah have a productive offseason in the coming months.
