Top prospect is heating up and flirts with a no-hitter in Augusta

The Braves made Owen Murphy the 20th overall pick in 2022, selecting him out of Riverside-Brookfield High School in Illinois. He has had a so-so start to his minor league career, but he’s young and showed off part of what the Braves loved about him on August 11th against the Salem Red Sox.

Owen Murphy still hitting 91 mph in the 7th.

Loses the no hit bid on a triple in the gap. Threw a FB on an 0-2 count and didn't get it inside enough.

Murphy had a fantastic game, and he has had a good August overall. On August 4th against the Columbia Fireflies, Murphy tossed five innings of three hit, one run ball while striking out nine batters.

Hopefully, Murphy continues to develop; the Braves have been aggressive with prospect promotions, and it would be nice to see Murphy reach Rome in 2023 and potentially Mississippi by 2024.
